Drain in our Dennistoun tenement was backing up into the back court. Same-day, the camera showed a collapsed section, and they fixed it the next morning. Price agreed up front.

Outside drain in the garden was overflowing. I booked it in the morning, an engineer came that afternoon, found the blockage with the camera and cleared it. He talked me through the whole thing in plain English.

FAQs

Our Frequently Asked Questions

What causes most blocked drains?

Kitchen grease, bathroom wet wipes, and outdoor debris cover the bulk of what we see. In older Glasgow housing, ageing clay pipework and tree roots make up a bigger share. Most blockages develop gradually over weeks or months, with small build-ups slowly choking the flow until water stops draining altogether.

Can a blocked drain clear on its own?

Sometimes a partial blockage flushes through with heavy rain or a sudden volume of water, but a properly blocked drain rarely clears itself. Waiting usually means the build-up gets worse and the eventual clearance takes longer. If it's been blocked for more than a day, it's worth a call.

Do you offer emergency drain unblocking in Glasgow?

We treat urgent jobs like overflows, sewage backups, and total blockages with no flow at all as a priority during our working hours. We can't promise a fixed response window because traffic and other live jobs affect it, but we'll give you a realistic time when you call.

Do you cover North Lanarkshire as well as Glasgow?

Yes. Our main area is Glasgow city-wide, and we also cover North Lanarkshire, including Coatbridge, Airdrie, and surrounding areas. Phone in and tell us your postcode, and we'll confirm before sending an engineer out.

When do I need a CCTV drain survey?

The two most common reasons are a blockage that keeps coming back after clearance (the camera shows what's causing the repeat) and a pre-purchase check on an older Glasgow property where you suspect shared drains or pipe damage. We'd also recommend one before any internal pipe repair, because the survey decides what kind of repair is possible.

Will my garden or driveway need to be dug up?

In most cases, no. Most blockages can be cleared without digging, using rods, jetting, or cutters. Some pipe damage can be repaired internally with pipe relining (a resin sleeve set inside the existing pipe), which avoids excavation altogether. Dig-ups are reserved for severe collapses or pipes in locations where no internal repair is possible.

How much does drain unblocking cost?

Cost depends on the type of blockage, the access available, and the equipment needed to clear it. A straightforward rod clearance on an accessible drain costs less than a high-pressure jetting job on a long blocked run. An engineer can give you a realistic figure on arrival, once they've seen the access and the type of blockage, since quoting accurately over the phone is hard without that information.

Whose responsibility is the drain, mine or Scottish Water's?

Generally, the drains within your property boundary are your responsibility. Once they connect to a public sewer, often at the edge of the property, Scottish Water takes over. Lateral drains and shared private drains in tenement properties can be more complicated. If you're not sure, we can usually tell on arrival.
